One of London’s busiest roads was shut down Wednesday morning following a fatal collision.
London Police say a woman, 68, died in hospital after she was struck on Wharncliffe Road South at Commissioners Road West. Police were called to a motor vehicle collision at approximately 6:45 a.m.
It’s unclear whether the woman was hit by one or two vehicles, but police confirmed to AM980 that all parties involved remained on scene and the Traffic Management Unit is working to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
Investigators have yet to release the victim’s name.
London Police Constable Sandasha Bough said the road was wet at the time of the crash.

“The road conditions at the time of the collision were slick, wet. It was raining significantly at the time and it was still quite dark,” she said.
Despite the wet conditions, police haven’t determined the cause of the collision.
Wharncliffe Road South was closed between Base Line Road and Commissioners Road West while a forensic investigation team attended to the scene.
The roadway reopened shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
There’s no word on whether any charges will be laid.
