Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the area, warning of possible heavy snowfall late Thursday night into Friday morning.

The national weather agency says rain is expected to develop Thursday as a strong low-pressure system approaches the area.

Although they are uncertain how much snow the area will get, some areas could receive in excess of 15 centimetres.
