UPDATE: Arrest made in Prince Albert, Sask. shooting death

A man who was shot in the face on the evening of June 28 in Prince Albert, Sask., has died in hospital.

Prince Albert police said it is the first homicide of 2018 in the northern Saskatchewan city.

An autopsy is scheduled for later in the week.

Police said the 28-year old man, whose name has not been released, was shot in an alley in the 200-block of 9th Street East.

He was taken to Victoria Hospital in critical condition and later transported to a Saskatoon hospital for further treatment.

Investigators believe the shooting was not random, but have yet to come up with a motive.

Police searched a home in the 900-block of 3rd Avenue East as part of their investigation.

While suspects have been identified, police have yet to make any arrests.
