Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in Scarborough homicide: police

Toronto police say a 42-year-old man faces a second-degree murder charge in relation to the death of a man on Sept. 22.

They say Peter Wight of Pickering was arrested Friday.

Police have identified 52-year-old Edwin McGowan as the victim of the incident in the Dorset Park neighbourhood of Scarborough.

They say they were called to an apartment at around 11 p.m. and found a man who had sustained serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation revealed the victim’s injuries were the result of an assault.

Wight was scheduled to appear in court Saturday morning.
