TORONTO – Crime Stoppers is partnering up with a Winnipeg based non-profit organization to launch an animal cruelty tip line in Toronto.
Similar to how Crime Stoppers works, the public will be able to report anonymous tips about animal cruelty and monetary rewards of up to $2,000 will be offered to any information that lead to convictions.

“This partnership sheds light on the fact that animal abuse and cruelty is a serious crime and will be investigated,” said Yvonne Russell, president of Paw Tipsters. “We have had many people from Toronto and the surrounding area request to bring the Paw Tipsters program there, so this is where we will begin our national expansion.”
Paw Tipsters, which has already teamed up with police in Manitoba last year, hopes to replicate its success with this new initiative in Ontario.
“There’s a lot of animal lovers out there and animals can’t speak for themselves, someone needs to speak for them,” said Russell.
If all goes well, Russell says one of the goals is to institute the program in other Canadian cities.
